WORKING TOGETHER, SAVING LIVES

OneLegacy understands that we can accomplish our mission only through our partnerships with hospitals and transplant centers. We rely on our hospital partners to identify and make a timely referral of a potential donor and manage the patient to allow OneLegacy to evaluate the patient for donor suitability. We then work collaboratively with the hospital staff to help the potential donors’ family understand brain death, provide emotional support around end of life decisions and enable them to make an informed decision regarding organ donation. Once the organs are recovered and distributed, the transplant centers ensure proper care of recipients.

ORGAN DONATION BREAKTHROUGH COLLABORATIVE

The Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative, initiated in April 2003 by the Department of Health & Human Services, identifies and spreads best practices in organ donation and transplantation to the nation's hospitals and transplant centers, with the goal of achieving organ donation conversion rates of 75 percent or higher all target hospitals. Collaborative hospital-OPO teams work together to rapidly learn, adapt, redesign, implement, track and refine their organ donation processes to achieve the 75 percent goal.
