Family Care
OneLegacy's Family Care department believes that donors and donor families deserve our best care, support and encouragement. From our initial contact with the family at the hospital or on the phone and continuing on during the weeks and months after the death of their loved one, our specially trained staff focus on providing emotional support, practical information and guidance.
The Family Care department include several teams working cooperatively to support donor families:
| Family Care Specialists | Trained in bereavement counseling, these employees support potential donor families at the hospital and sensitively present the opportunity to donate both organs and tissue. |
| Family Care Coordinators | Specialists at OneLegacy's state-of-the-art communications center contact families of the recently deceased to present the opportunity to donate corneas and tissue. |
| Aftercare Specialists | The Aftercare program includes bereavement literature, grief support referral, follow-up letters, telephone calls, donor family gatherings, and events to honor and remember donors. They also coordinate communication between donor families and organ transplant recipients |
We invite donor families to explore the our Online Resources to support their journey of grief and healing.
