Organ Operations
Our Organ Operations team members work with more than 200 hospitals throughout the region to coordinate donation at the time of a person’s death. As a result, people live longer and more productive lives thanks to organ transplants.
The Organ Operations department include several teams working cooperatively to support the donation process:
| Hospital Services Coordinators | These coordinators maintain close relationships with hospitals to ensure that the donation process works effectively. |
| Family Care Center | OneLegacy's state-of-the-art communications center triages referral calls from hospitals. |
| Family Care Specialists | Trained in bereavement counseling, these employees support potential donor families at the hospital and sensitively present the opportunity to donate life. |
| Procurement Transplant Coordinators | Dozens of highly trained coordinators evaluate patients to determine their suitability as donors and, following authorization to recover organs, clinically manage the brain-dead patient and coordinate organ recovery. |
| Organ Placement Coordinators | These specialists ensure that organs are placed according to UNOS allocation guidelines. |
