Donor Family Events
OneLegacy hosts events throughout the year for families to honor and remember their loved ones. In addition to our monthly grief support groups, we host Donor Remembrance Ceremonies in March, participate in the Donate Life Run/Walk in April, host a Day of the Dead Craft Day in October, a Surviving the Holidays Workshop in December and offer donor family decorating shifts at the end of December for the Donate Life Rose Parade Float.
Each March, OneLegacy hosts a Donor Remembrance Ceremony themed Fields of Gold. The intent of the ceremony is to honor and remember your loved one and your decision to give the gift of life, health and hope to others in need.
A video presentation features a picture of each donor along with thoughts about them which are submitted by the family. Each family is presented with a Bridging Lives donor pin and pendant set. We hope that our speakers' messages provide you with support and encouragement, as well as affirm your decision to say yes to donation.
There is no cost to attend the ceremony. Attendance is by invitation only. Invitations are mailed out in January and each family is able to attend a Donor Remembrance Ceremony once.
On the last Saturday in April, thousands gather to participate in the Donate Life Run/Walk at Cal State Fullerton. Participants walk and run to honor loved ones, celebrate their gift of life and inspire others to say yes to donation. Following the 1K/5K, there is a Family Festival with face painting, rides for kids, food and vendor booths.
Donor families who register with OneLegacy Family Care receive personalized t-shirts with their loved one's image. Many families purchase a sign for the Circle of Life Garden, where a message of love and remembrance accompanies the picture of a loved one.
Donor family team registration packets are mailed out in January. If you would like to register a team, please contact Kari in Family Care at firstname.lastname@example.org. To get more information about the event, the event's main website is www.donateliferunwalk.org. Online registration for donor family teams is not available and cannot be done through the event's website.
Since 2004, the Donate Life Rose Parade Float has served as a memorial to organ and tissue donors and a platform for donor families, living donors and transplant recipients to inspire the world to save and heal those in need through the gift of life.
The Donate Life Float is a national campaign and OneLegacy is proud to be a Benefactor sponsor. OneLegacy donor families participate in decorating and bringing the float to life and many dedicate roses with a personal message of love and remembrance. Our donor family decorating shifts are on December 26th and 28th and we begin taking reservations for decorating spaces in October. Decorating shifts are 8 hours and decorators must be over 15 to participate.
Since 2008, floragraphs have adorned the float and served to honor donors and their families. Floragraphs are artistic portraits of donors that are decorated with floral material. To have your loved one considered to be honored with a floragraph, please review the requirements and complete the 2015 OneLegacy Floragraph application. For consideration for the 2015 float, your application must be received by June 23, 2014.
Visit the Donate Life Rose Parade Float website to learn about the float's history, see the float design or dedicate a rose. To reserve float decorating spaces or to get more information about the float's Dedication Garden, contact Kari at email@example.com.
